It gives me pleasure to speak today to congratulate the Environmental Health Association of Quebec that helps people suffering from Environmental Sensitivities and its President, Mrs. Rohini Peris.

Data from Statistics Canada, 2010, shows that the number of Canadians diagnosed with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity has increased by 34% since the Canadian Community Health Survey, 2005. Presently, these medical conditions are difficult to diagnose.

The Association wishes that following the example of other countries, such as Germany, Japan, Austria that give health and social services to people suffering from Environmental Sensitivities that Quebec could give the necessary medical care to these patients.

Appropriate medical care that is opportune and adequate to people suffering from environmental sensitivities will better their well-being and savings to the health system.

I congratulate Mrs. Rohini Peris and her team for the work accomplished to make this illness known and the work done to help people with this condition.
